Vote YES for the Detroit Zoo Millage Renewal

Tuesday, Nov. 3, is an important moment for Wayne, Oakland and Macomb County families.

The Detroit Zoo provides high-quality animal care for more than 2,000 animals and 200 different species including polar bears, penguins, giraffes and many more animals that inspire our community, fill guests with a sense of wonder and connect us with the natural world.

The Wayne County Zoological Authority Millage Renewal, Oakland County Zoological Authority Millage Renewal and Macomb County Zoological Authority Millage Renewal will all appear on the Tuesday, Nov. 3, ballot in their respective counties, giving voters the opportunity to RENEW funding for the Detroit Zoo.

The Detroit Zoo offers a variety of educational programming for children of all ages, from field trips to after-school programs, that provide one-of-a-kind, hands-on experiences that can’t be found in books, on TV or online. The Zoo also supports special programming for seniors and veterans throughout the region. These programs reinforce the Zoo's vision to be a force for positive change in a world where animals and nature are valued, understood and protected by all.

That’s why we urge you to VOTE YES for the Detroit Zoo Millage Renewal on Tuesday, Nov. 3.

Designated as one of Michigan’s top visitor attractions, the Detroit Zoo has welcomed an average of more than 1.3 million guests annually for the past 25 years. The Zoo has a more than $190 million combined net economic impact in Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties each year, and is a magnet for visitors from across the state, around the country and beyond.

Low-Cost Millage

Protecting Taxpayers

Funding from this low-cost millage renewal will allow the Detroit Zoo to continue providing high-quality care for more than 2,000 animals and 200 different species. Renewing the Detroit Zoo Millage will NOT increase property taxes. For a homeowner whose home is worth $200,000, the average cost will remain $10 a year.
